Peter Miller is the director of the CTC VISTA Project at UMass/Boston College of Public and Community Service, which helps support the recruitment, placement, and support of AmeriCorps*VISTA members in community technology centers in metro Boston and across the country. He is the former Network Director of the Community Technology Centers' Network (CTCNet), the country's oldest and largest association of low-income community organizations that provide access and support in using computers and related technologies. Peter is a long-time community technology activist and has undertaken consultant work for the CTCNet joint project with the Civil Rights Forum on Communications Policy, the California Foundation for Parks and Recreation, the Massachusetts Community Action Agency Directors' Association, and the National Strategy for Nonprofit Technology, among others. He has co-chaired the Innovative Awards Committee for the OMB Watch Nonprofits' Policy and Technology project, was a panel chair for the federal Community Technology Centers grants program, and has served on the boards of the Ohio Community Computing Center Network, the Technology Education Council of Somerville, MA, Computers In Our Future in CA, the Advisory Committee of Distance Learning Policy Laboratory of the Southern Regional Education Board, and the Alliance for Public Technology. He is a member of Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR), the Association for Community Networking, and the Alliance for Community Media. His articles on community technology have frequently appeared in the Community Technology Center Review which he founded and edits, and the Community Media Review. Peter helped found the annual New England Computers and Social Change Conference and the Boston Computer Society's Nonprofit Assistance Program. Peter was previously the Executive Director of the Somerville (MA) Community Computing Center and Urban Planning Aid, Inc., the country's first advocacy planning agency.
